VIDEO: Orphan Maker

While Annie the Musical may have been written in 1976, and achieved great critical and commercial success since, few are aware of it's seldom-mentioned sequel. We now present the official trailer to that sequel: Little Annie Ophan Maker.

This video was written and produced by the Laff Co. improv comedy troupe in Oxford, MS. Check out their show's the first Thursday of every month at the Powerhouse theatre in Oxford, or online at www.myspace.com/laffco

Though technically I had this up on YouTube already, I added in a Laff Co slate and some pop chops. Enjoy!

VIDEO: Workplace Gender Roles

Welcome to Movie Mondays! Starting today I'm going to be posting a new video in the feed every Monday until I run out of new stuff (unlikely), or get too lazy to post it (very likely).

Sure, we all know men and women are different. Men like monster trucks, women like, I don't know - crying and ponies or something. Occasionally, however, these differences can cause conflict - especially in the workplace. This short film examines men and women's roles in the workplace and just might save you from a sexual assault lawsuit.

This week's video was produced as a final project for my women's studies class. Tricked into thinking I would be banging my hot classmates, I decided to go out in style - by producing this masochistic film about a woman's role in the workplace. All I got when I showed it in class were stunned looks - totally awesome.

VIDEO: Grill Drippins

Are you still wasting drips from your countertop grill? Shame on you!

This film originally premiered at the 2009 Oxford Film Festival, and has since won hundreds of awards.  Some have called it the 2001: A Space Odyssey of the modern times.  The internet times.

VIDEO: Foursouth - Beatstick

BEAT.  STICK.  These two words have been separated forever by the forces of time.  Their combination could bring a new utopia to humanity, or reign down the terror of armageddon.  THE END IS NIGH.

This second ever Foursouth film was made in the fall of 2003, and has a special place in my heart.  Filmed in one night, and shown a few days later to our eager calculus class, Beatstick is exactly the kind of movie I like to make.  Simple to shoot, fun to act in, and makes me laugh in the end.

Man, high school was awesome.

VIDEO: Hordes of Orcs Trailer

I’ve been contracted to make a wide variety of videos for Freeverse Software for a wide variety of games.  Yet, I knew when I was hired to make a trailer for their newest game, Hores of Orcs, I was facing a unique challenge.

How does one make an exciting trailer for a game that is visually rather uninteresting?

Well after pondering the issue for about a week, picking up a few tubs of green paint from Wal-Mart, and making a complete ass of myself, I think I found the answer.  The version seen here is a “Director’s Cut”, that is, it’s a little more intense than the one on Freeverse’s website.

But hey, if you don’t occasionally go over the edge, you’ll never know where the edge is...

VIDEO: Foursouth - Jerrall

Ah, the one that, in a way, started it all.  It’s the fall of 2003, and William and I are up to our eyeballs in Calculus II homework.  Our class is ruled by an iron fist - a tyrant by the name of Bobby Jerrall.  A name that strikes fear into the hearts of even the most dedicated students.

While this video was our first filmmaking effort and is quite simple, it’s still funny and entertaining, and we had fun showing it off to our class.

More of these antique Foursouth videos to come...
